How to Get a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) Online

A Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) is prepared by a GP and may allow eligible clients to access 10 Medicare-rebated psychology sessions per calendar year. If you don’t have a regular GP or prefer telehealth, there are several online GP services in Australia that offer bulk-billed or low-cost appointments.

Please note:

  • A Mental Health Treatment Plan can only be provided following a clinical assessment by a GP

  • Not all services are bulk-billed for all clients

  • Medicare eligibility and telehealth requirements apply

  • The decision to provide a MHTP is at the GP’s clinical discretion
