Empowering psychologically safe and healthy workplaces for all
We provide evidence-based counselling in alignment with SIRA NSW guidelines and occupational health and safety legislation, to assist those with psychological injury either from work or motor vehicle accident. We empower you to find the strategies you need to help you feel safe again and get back to your daily life as quickly and holistically as possible.
All sessions are completed online, so you can attend counselling in the comfort of your own home without having to travel to yet another appointment.
How does counselling work?
Comprehensive Psychological Assessment
We take the time to understand your situation, history, symptoms, and the impact on your daily functioning. This includes evaluating:
Emotional wellbeing
Trauma responses
Workplace or event-related factors
Stress and coping patterns
Functional capacity and daily living
Individual Therapy
Weekly or fortnightly sessions designed around your needs, using trauma-informed and supportive therapeutic techniques.
Functional Recovery Support
We focus not only on symptoms but also on helping you regain confidence in everyday life — whether that’s returning to work, reconnecting with activities, rebuilding routine, or regaining a sense of control.
Return-to-Work Collaboration (If Applicable)
With your consent, we work with GPs, employers, case managers, or insurers to support a safe, paced return to work.
We advocate for your wellbeing first, ensuring your recovery needs are understood and respected.
Stress & Resilience Skills Training
Helping you develop practical skills for managing stress, improving emotional regulation, and building resilience.
Psychological vs Physical injury
Psychological Injury
Affects thoughts, emotions, and mental wellbeing
Often caused by stress, trauma, bullying, or critical events
Symptoms may be invisible (e.g., anxiety, low mood, sleep issues, trauma responses)
Diagnosed through clinical interviews and psychological assessment
Treated with therapy, coping skills, and sometimes medication
Can affect concentration, mood, relationships, and daily functioning
Just as real and serious as physical injuries
Physical Injury
Affects the body’s tissues, bones, or physical functioning
Often caused by accidents, strain, impact, or physical hazards
Symptoms are usually visible or measurable (e.g., swelling, pain, limited movement)
Diagnosed through physical examination, scans, tests, or imaging
Treated with medical care, physiotherapy, or rehabilitation exercises
Can affect mobility, strength, and ability to perform physical tasks
Widely understood and recognised as medical conditions
Although physical and psychological injuries differ in how they occur and appear, they share some important similarities:
Both are legitimate medical conditions.
Both can affect a person’s ability to work, socialise, or complete daily activities.
Both require appropriate treatment and support.
Early intervention improves recovery outcomes.
Without treatment, both can worsen over time.
How They Affect Each Other
Psychological and physical injuries often interact:
Physical injuries can lead to psychological injuries - Pain, loss of independence, traumatic accidents, or long recovery times can cause anxiety, depression, or PTSD.
Psychological injuries can contribute to physical symptoms - stress and trauma can cause muscle tension, fatigue, headaches, sleep disturbances, slower recovery from physical injuries.
Healing is often most effective when both mind and body are supported.
Why Understanding the Difference Matters
Recognising the difference between psychological and physical injuries helps ensure that individuals receive the right type of care, whether that’s:
mental health treatment,
medical support,
or a combination of both.
It also helps workplaces, insurers, and referrers understand the unique impacts of psychological injuries — particularly how they influence functioning, confidence, and readiness to return to normal routines.
How We Can Support
At Mindtality Healing Studio, we provide evidence-based assessment and therapy to support recovery and wellbeing. Our psychologists focus on three key areas:
1. Understanding your experience
We begin with a comprehensive assessment to understand what has happened, how it affects you, and what you need to feel safe and supported.
2. Evidence-based treatment
Our psychologists use therapies proven to help with trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression, such as CBT, EMDR, ACT, and trauma-focused approaches.
3. Supporting return to everyday life
Where appropriate, we help clients gradually rebuild confidence and return to daily activities—including work—at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
